Installation procedure

Hi all,

I don't know about you guys but I've been having a lot of trouble getting the new version of the kinect drivers to work.
In order to prevend you all from googling/binging all day long, here is the procedure that worked for me. (based on the KinectHacks tutorial)

1. Download and install OpenNI

2. Download and install SensorKinect

3. Download and install NITE with this key: 0KOIk2JeIBYClPWVnMoRKn5cdY4=

4. Make sure you set the active solution platform of the v0.2 solution on x86.

This should do the trick to get v0.2 to work for x86/64x Windows machines.

In order to run the PrimeSense examples, please follow these steps.

1. Copy the XML files from "c:\Program Files\Prime Sense\Sensor\SampleXMLs\NITE\Data" into "c:\Program Files\Prime Sense\NITE\Data" (overwrite files)

2. Copy the XML files from "c:\Program Files\Prime Sense\Sensor\SampleXMLs\OPENNI\Data" into "c:\Program Files\OpenNI\Data" (overwrite files)

Thanks Thomas.

I agree that the OpenNI installation is not the easiest. I needed skeleton tracking though so that's the only option today. I do plan on adding support for the official Kinect SDK as soon it is available as well as libfreenect as soon as I have a good solution for non-NITE skeleton tracking.
